Through our Brand U shopping campaign, two lucky shoppers received makeover transformations that prove to the community that being fashionable doesn’t have to be dictated by price.
During our campaign, which ran from August 2-17 and designed to send the message to the community, “it’s not what you wear, it’s how you wear it.,” hundreds of shoppers registered at Goodwill retail stores for a chance to win a $100 Goodwill shopping spree with a personal shopper/designer, haircut/style/coloring, manicure/pedicure, a before and after photo shoot, and the opportunity to be a model in Goodwill’s next ‘Brand U’ shopping ads.

This year’s makeover winners included a karate teacher that just moved to Austin from Missouri a biology major at Texas State University—San Marcos. These two young women enjoyed a full day of shopping, pampering and fun on Sunday, September 7 at Salon Keriz’ma in Cedar Park, TX.
And shop they did. The morning started in a flurry as the two winners received a manicure and pedicure over breakfast and then headed to the Goodwill store near Balcones to shop with their very own team of personal shoppers.

From the color-coordinated clothing racks to the shoe and purse sections, no corner of the store was left overlooked. As dressing rooms filled up with clothes and accessories, outfits with a modern and edgy flair began to be pieced together.
Once the winners finished their shopping excursion, it was back to the salon for the movie star treatment, including a haircut, hair coloring, and style as well as some makeup, thanks to Salon Keriz’ma. An hour of jokes and giggles later, the girls were ready for their final photo shoot, courtesy of Almost Impatient Productions. With the ease of professional supermodels, the winners posed for their photos.

Armed with bags of new clothes and accessories, these two young women left the salon transformed—one from a karate instructor into a cover girl, the other from a college student into a beauty queen. It was a day of fun and glamour, but most importantly, it was a day that encouraged shoppers to “be unique, be yourself and brand your own style,” all while supporting Goodwill’s mission of empowering individuals through the power of work.
