Goodwill aims for a hole-in-one for youth in Bastrop
Goodwill pairs with the Ron Brown Scholar Program for the Lance Blanks Charity Golf Tournament
| WHAT: | Goodwill Industries of Central Texas and the Ron Brown Scholar Program are working together on the 1st Annual Lance Blanks Charity Golf Tournament to raise awareness and support of youth programs. Due to the devastating wildfires affecting the area, Goodwill has chosen to donate its proceeds from the tournament to the community of Bastrop to support relief efforts for our Central Texas family. The Ron Brown Scholar Program will also be making a financial contribution to the community. For more information about donations or to be involved, please contact Jesús DeLeón-Serratos, Communications Manager at jesus.deleon-serratos@austingoodwill.org Since 1984, Goodwill has helped at-risk youth from our community open doors to a brighter future in employment or higher education through our Youth Services program. By providing guidance and opportunities that keep kids in school, offer real-life work experience and mentoring programs, we help keep our youth focused and out of trouble. During the months of September and October, Goodwill is set to drive the WORKING FOR YOUTH campaign dedicated to funding the youth services provided by the organization. The two-day golf event will begin on Thursday, September 15th with a reception to introduce new friends to the programs. We are also encouraging people to attend and support the Bastrop community. You can help by either donating clothes to any Goodwill store, by leaving a donation during the event or through a tournament sponsorship of golf ticket purchase. To register for the reception, please email vevans@ronbrown.org. Individuals who are interested in supporting the affected youth in Bastrop by participating in the Friday, September 16th golf tournament should visit www.lanceblanksgolf.org for registration information. Golf registrations must be made in advance.
